Not many people are aware that they have a weak immune system, so they are susceptible to disease. In fact, awareness about weak immunity needs to be known to increase the anticipation that we can do.
An immunologist and functional medicine physician, Dr. Heather Moday said there are 4 signs that your immune system is weak or strong. The following is a list:
Signs That Your Immune System is Weak
1. Frequent Pain and Slow Recovery
The first sign that your immune system is weak is that you often get sick and take a long time to heal when illness strikes. According to Moday, generally a person will experience a cold two or three times a year and recover within a week.
If the recovery time and the number of colds you suffer from being more than that, then it is likely that your immune system is weak.
2. Often Experiencing Stress
Monday said, someone who often experiences chronic stress can increase his risk of getting the disease and recovering time if exposed to the virus. Even so, he said there are some stress that is actually beneficial for health.
“For example, short-term acute stressors such as dealing with traffic jams, these are designed to help your body boost its protective mechanisms in an instant,” says Moday.
3. Suffering from Cold Sores and Herpes Zoster
The third characteristic, people who often suffer from cold sores and herpes zoster can be a sign of weak immunity. The body’s immune system needs to be improved if it is often exposed to this virus, because herpes is generally easy to reappear even though it has disappeared at certain times.
4. Drug Effect
The last thing that can make your immune weak is the consumption of drugs that are immunosuppressant. These drugs are usually used to treat cancer patients.
The body’s immune system can also be weakened if you often take antibiotics. Because, research shows that frequent consumption of antibiotics can damage the diversity of the microbiome in the gut, which directly interferes with the body’s immune response.
