Monitoringclub.org. World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated every March 24. Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious disease. This disease can occur in various organs of the body, but often attacks the lungs.
The bacteria that cause tuberculosis are passed from person to person through tiny airborne droplets released through coughing and sneezing.
How To Treat Tuberculosis
The treatment is sufficient within 6 months under normal conditions, which is divided into 2 stages, namely the initial phase, where the treatment is for 2 months by taking medication every day. As for the advanced phase, the treatment is for 4 months by taking medication one day at a time.
To prevent TB transmission, we must implement clean and healthy living behavior that starts with ourselves. Then consume nutritious food because if the immune system is lacking, it will be more easily exposed to TB compared to people with good immune systems.
Then use a mask or cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing so you can avoid transmission and don’t spit anywhere.
But it should also be noted that not all TB sufferers must have symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, must lose weight, must experience weakness. With one of the symptoms mentioned above, it is necessary to suspect TB, maybe the economic condition is better than in the past, patients with no symptoms are often found, only because they are doing the MCU and with the results of the chest x-ray it turns out that the patient has TB.
In the case of children with TB, it is necessary to know that the child does not transmit TB. Because the child has not been able to splash through a cough or sneeze that can be sprayed. In general, a good immune system can prevent someone from contracting TB disease.
The biggest and main risk factor for TB is smoking. Cigarettes are the source of all diseases.
If we talk about lung cases, of course, cigarettes are the main enemy. So cigarettes can directly and indirectly cause tuberculosis, which, through decreased immunity, damages lung function. So smokers are required to immediately change their lifestyle by quit smoking.
If people have come with complaints of coughing up blood, shortness of breath, chest pain, weight loss, there is a weak condition. Then a follow-up examination should be carried out immediately, namely sputum examination and radiological examination or chest X-ray.
It should be emphasized that a negative sputum examination result does not mean that the patient is not TB. So this TB can attack all over the body, including the intestines, genitals, womb, brain and bones.
The process starts from the sprinkling of phlegm from people who are suffering from tuberculosis, then enters and gets infected into the respiratory tract of people whose immune systems are down. Then TB will manifest in the lungs and move to the lymph nodes or move to other organs.
Can TB cause death?
Covid-19 is a disease caused by a virus. It is natural for the virus to heal itself as long as the body’s immune system is good, then the disease caused by the virus will heal by itself. Unlike TB, which is caused by bacteria, so it must be treated. And TB is not can be cured with herbal treatment,.
For pure TB patients, there are no dietary restrictions. Improve nutrition, especially calories and protein. However, if this TB patient suffers from diabetes, collaboration with a nutritionist and an internal medicine doctor must be carried out.
For TB patients, blood sugar and HIV tests should be carried out. This is done for screening in order to know whether the patient has diabetes or HIV. So that it can more quickly treat both diseases.
After the patient has completed his TB treatment, a follow-up chest x-ray will be performed at the 6th and 12th months and at the 24th month.
So in 2 years, the patient’s condition must be evaluated whether there is a recurrence case or not. This TB can cause recurrence even though it has healed. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out a good evaluation.
It is undeniable that TB is an infectious and dangerous disease. Thus, it is important for the community to understand correctly so that awareness of this disease can be further increased, as well as its prevention.
If you have family or friends who have TB, support them to complete treatment. Don’t forget to take care of your health and personal and environmental hygiene.
